OCALA, FL (352today.com) – AAA is activating ‘Tow to Go’ in select states, including Florida, for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The program aims to ensure that partygoers “do not press their luck by driving impaired.”

Tow to Go will be active from 6 p.m. Friday, March 14th, through 6 a.m. Tuesday, March 18th. This initiative provides impaired drivers and their vehicles with a free, confidential ride to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.

Operated for more than 25 years, AAA’s Tow to Go has effectively removed nearly 30,000 impaired drivers from the roadways. Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA – The Auto Club Group, emphasized the importance of the service, stating, “We’re proud to be that last line of defense, keeping people from driving impaired.” Jenkins further advised the public on the importance of planning ahead, emphasizing that deciding if one is “sober enough to drive” should never be necessary.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), St. Patrick’s Day ranks as one of the deadliest holidays on U.S. roads, with over 11,000 fatalities from drunk-driving crashes reported in 2020 alone. AAA encourages celebrating responsibly and planning for safe travel during festivities.
