GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) announced the passing of Firefighter/Paramedic Samuel Fick, a dedicated member of their department, who began his career as a cadet in the firefighter youth program.

Fick joined ACFR as a full-time firefighter on March 13, 2020, and was promoted to Firefighter/Paramedic in September 2023 after completing the Paramedic program at Santa Fe College in the fall of 2023.

“Families suffer loss, and sometimes those losses are just too big to put into words. In those moments, we need to lean on each other for strength,” the agency shared in a Facebook post, which has been widely shared by other organizations, including Marion County Fire Rescue.

“Our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters at Alachua County Fire Rescue on the tragic loss of Firefighter Paramedic Samuel Fick,” MCFR expressed in a Facebook post. “The entire Marion County Fire Rescue family stands with you during this incredibly difficult time.”

ACFR expressed their condolences to Fick’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters, stating he will be “greatly missed.”

Funeral arrangements are forthcoming, and the department encourages the community to keep Fick’s loved ones in their thoughts during this difficult time.
