ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – When sheriff’s deputies are on duty, they never know what they’re going to come across. Such was the case for Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies in the early morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 14.

Several deputies responded to a report of an owl struck by a vehicle – stuck and possibly injured.

ACSO posted video of the rescue on its Facebook page.

The post inquires, “Whoooooooooo is in for a feel-good story about an injured owl who met its big, bold protector?”

The less than one minute video shows deputies along with a citizen working to free the trapped owl from the truck’s bumper.

Once removed, deputies wrapped the bird of prey in a towel and placed it in a box to be transported to a local wildlife care facility.

The video includes a hopeful wish for the owl to “Fly free, little buddy!”
