OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Appleton Museum of Art, part of the College of Central Florida, invites art enthusiasts of all ages to unleash their creativity through its newly announced schedule of studio art classes, workshops, and programs.

Held in the museum’s state-of-the-art studios, these offerings cater to beginners and seasoned artists alike, with guidance provided by expert educators and artists.

Adult Programs

Adults can delve into a variety of artistic techniques, including:

  • Dig into Clay: Six-week wheel-throwing classes on Saturdays (Jan. 11-Feb. 15 and March 1-April 5).
  • Portrait Drawing in Profile: A one-day class with Lisa Russo on Jan. 25.
  • Sculptural Design: A two-part workshop focused on creating sculptures from stacked shapes (April 12 and 19).
  • Printmaking Techniques: Workshops on soft-cut block printing (Feb. 15) with E. Marie Fielding and stamping with collage (March 15) led by Maritza Jauregui-Rodriguez.
    For those unable to attend in-person, two free virtual acrylic painting workshops are scheduled for Jan. 21 and April 8.
Programs for Early Learners and Children

Younger artists can explore art in age-appropriate settings:

  • Museum & Me: A free monthly program for ages 2-5, held on select Tuesdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Museum Happenings: Aimed at homeschoolers and independent students ages 6-9, this program includes gallery tours and artmaking activities (Jan. 28, Feb. 25, March 25).
Multi-Week Classes for Kids and Teens
  • Art Adventures (Ages 5-7): Saturdays, April 12-26, focusing on foundational art skills.
  • Art Explorations (Ages 8-12): Three themed sessions on drawing, clay, and color, scheduled on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting in January, February, and April, respectively.
  • AppleTeens Wheel Throwing (Ages 13-17): A six-week class, March 1-April 5.
