OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The College of Central Florida will welcome award-winning poet and essayist David Kirby for a reading, discussion, and book signing on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the CF Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road.

Kirby, the author of more than 30 books, has received multiple Pushcart Prizes, the Brittingham Prize, and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. He has also been honored with the Florida Book Award and the Millennium Cultural Recognition Award. A longtime educator at Florida State University since 1969, Kirby is known for poetry that blends humor, accessibility, and depth.

The event is part of the CF Debra Vazquez Memorial Poetry Series, which honors the late Professor Debra Vazquez, who taught English, literature, and creative writing at CF for many years. The series brings esteemed writers to the Ocala Campus annually for free public events.

The community is invited to attend either of the free sessions on Feb. 19: from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building, Building 8, Room 110, or from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Webber Center.
