BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – The City of Belleview is partnering with local Lions Clubs and LifeSouth Community Blood Center for a Health Screening Day on March 19, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Belleview Community Center.
This free event offers vision and blood glucose screenings for all ages, along with vital health information.
Health Screenings & Education
The Eastport Lions Club will provide vision screenings, while the Orange Blossom Gardens Lions Club of Lady Lake will conduct blood glucose screenings to aid in early diabetes detection. “Diabetes is often called a silent condition because many people don’t realize they have it until complications arise,” explained Barbara Crewell, club president. “This is why screenings like these are so important—they can save lives.”
LifeSouth Blood Drive
LifeSouth will host a blood drive, urging eligible donors to contribute. “Giving blood is one of the simplest and most impactful ways to give back to your community,” said a LifeSouth representative. “Your generosity can mean the difference between life and death for someone in need.”
Community Impact
“As Lions, we’ve made it our mission to fight preventable blindness and improve access to vision care,” said Eastport Lion Chris Culberson. Vision screenings help detect conditions like glaucoma and cataracts, especially important for children’s development.
“This Health Screening Day is about creating a healthier, stronger community,” said Robert Vass, Belleview’s Events and Promotions Manager. “I encourage everyone to attend—your health is worth it. And while you’re here, donate blood with our friends at LifeSouth and make a truly positive impact.”
