BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – It’s easy to get lost in a good read, as easy as it is for a kid to get distracted from reading altogether.
It’s easier when someone else does the reading for them, and what better person than Belleview Mayor Christine Dobkowski?
This Tuesday, Jan. 7, is a chance for your child to listen in as Mayor Dobkowski reads “Dollars and Sense,” a fun-spirited book discussing the basics of money management in a watered down, entertaining format.
Shortly following the story, kids will have an opportunity to express their creative chops by decorating their own special treat. They can also expect to participate in a hands-on activity that will help foster their understanding of smart financial decisions.
In addition, they get to take home a book of their choice courtesy of Goodwill Bookworks.
The City of Belleview will provide dinner for all those in attendance to enjoy.
The city is promoting the event as an easy route to sparking your child’s interests in financial literacy and creative problem solving, all while spending some quality time together with their family.
The event also presents an opportunity to connect with the mayor in what the city is calling a “casual and welcoming setting.”
The setting in question is the Belleview Community Center. Story time will begin at 5 p.m. sharp.
This is the first Storytime with the Mayor of the year, an event that occurs on the first Tuesday of each month.
