BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – A man has been found guilty of aggravated stalking after he reportedly tried contacting his victim over 160 times.

The case involving 37-year-old Brian Joseph Jankowski dates back to June 21, 2024, when deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a possible domestic violence.

The victim reportedly told deputies that Jankowski made “repeated attempts” to contact them in violation of an active injunction for protection against Jankowski.

Deputies also learned from the victim that Jankowski had been showing up at their residence “multiple times” over the past few days, and was “continuously” calling and leaving voicemails.

Authorities received a copy of the victim’s cell phone call log, which showed calls from a blocked number with several voicemails left by the defendant. Deputies say Jankowski “pleaded” with the victim over voicemail to answer the phone, and sent other “harassing” messages.

Following the initial investigation, deputies obtained Jankowski’s address in an attempt to make contact and continue the investigation.

According to deputies, when they arrived at Jankowski’s residence, he attempted to flee on foot out the back door of the home.

Deputies eventually caught up with him and took him into custody. During an interview, Jankowski admitted to being aware of the active injunction against him and admitted to contacting the victim.

Jankowski was placed under arrest. The conclusion of his trial took place yesterday, when the jury found him guilty of aggravated stalking, violation of domestic injunction with two prior convictions, and resisting law enforcement without violence.

Judge Peter M. Brigham of the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office sentenced Jankowski to 10 years in the Florida Department of Corrections.
