BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – The City of Belleview Police Department is proud to announce the recent achievements and appointments of several team members, reflecting the department’s continued commitment to professional excellence and community service.
During the Dec. 2, 2025, Belleview City Commission meeting, the department recognized and celebrated multiple milestones, including the official swearing-in of Officer Brandon Driggers and the promotion of Sergeant Alex Harrington.
Officer Brandon Driggers completed his field training and was released to solo patrol on Nov. 18, 2025, before being formally sworn in during the December 2 commission meeting. Officer Driggers graduated from the College of Central Florida Law Enforcement Academy in August.
A lifelong member of the Belleview community, Officer Driggers attended Belleview Elementary, Belleview Middle School, and graduated from Lake Weir High School. Before joining the Belleview Police Department, he served three years with the Florida Department of Corrections, achieving the rank of Sergeant. His goals include furthering his education, earning a college degree, and continuing to grow within the Belleview Police Department. Officer Driggers attributes his motivation and dedication to his two sons, Dalton and Colton.
“It’s always rewarding to see someone from our own community dedicate themselves to public service,” said Chief Terry Holland. “Officer Driggers brings a deep connection to Belleview, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to serve and protect the city he calls home.”
Effective Nov. 28, 2025, Alex Harrington was promoted to Sergeant and officially sworn in during the Dec. 2 City Commission meeting. Sergeant Harrington will continue serving on patrol as the supervisor for B Company.
Sergeant Harrington began his law enforcement career in 2008 with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Assistant before completing the Corrections Academy at the College of Central Florida and becoming a Corrections Officer in 2010. He transitioned to law enforcement in 2012 and joined the Belleview Police Department in 2013. Over the years, he has served as a Field Training Officer, firearms instructor, first aid instructor, and traffic homicide investigator. Sergeant Harrington earned his Associate’s Degree in 2021 from Columbia Southern University.
“Sergeant Harrington has proven himself as a leader and mentor within our department,” said Lieutenant Michael Miley. “His promotion is a testament to his years of service, commitment to professional development, and leadership in the field. His experience and training background make him an excellent leader for our Patrol Division.”
The department also recognizes Detective Coy Hunt, who has transitioned from patrol to the Criminal Investigations Division (CID). While this move is a reassignment rather than a promotion, it reflects the department’s confidence in Detective Hunt’s investigative skills and experience.
Detective Hunt began his law enforcement career in 2014 with the Brookfield Police Department in Brookfield, Missouri. After relocating to Ocala, Florida in 2021, he joined the Belleview Police Department as a patrol officer. He earned the rank of Patrolman First Class in 2022, became a Field Training Officer, and was promoted to Corporal in 2024. During this time, he also completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. As of Nov. 2025, Detective Hunt now serves as the department’s lead detective within the CID.
“Detective Hunt’s dedication and investigative skillset have been invaluable to the department,” said Chief Holland. “His move to CID ensures that our investigative efforts remain thorough, professional, and community-focused. Coy has demonstrated great attention to detail, and we are confident his transition to CID will benefit both the department and the citizens we serve.”
Chief Holland emphasized that these developments reflect the department’s ongoing investment in both the professional advancement of its officers and the safety and well-being of the Belleview community.
City Administrator Mariah Moody also commended the department’s leadership and teamwork. “The City of Belleview is proud of the continued professionalism and dedication shown by our police department,” Moody said. “Chief Holland and his team continue to set a standard of integrity and community focus that makes Belleview a great place to live and work. These recent milestones reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to excellence in public service.”
