BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – Whether you like pizza, kittens, a good story, or perhaps the kitchen sink, next month’s edition of Belleview’s Storytime with the Mayor is set to be an unmissable, free event for all ages.
The event is scheduled at the Belleview Community Center on Tuesday, March 4, at 5 p.m. It will feature storytelling by Belleview Mayor Christine Dobkowski, who will read a flip-along book titled The Shy Little Kitten.
The Humane Society of Marion County is bringing adoptable kittens for families and children to play with following storytime. For parents considering adopting a kitten, this event presents the perfect opportunity for furry fun that will last long after the event ends.

Robert Vass, the City of Belleview’s events and promotions manager, says the event is special for many reasons.
“It brings families together, encourages a love of reading, and this year, adds a sweet opportunity to connect with adorable kittens in need of loving homes,” he says. “It’s more than just a story — it’s a chance for children to interact with their local government, see their mayor in a fun and relatable way, and even experience the joy of possibly welcoming a new pet into their family.”
Angilia Pittsley oversees the City of Belleview’s program and says the event is part of the city’s motive to provide engaging programs for all ages.
“”We’re always looking for ways to offer events that are not only fun but also foster a sense of community,” she says. “Storytime with the Mayor brings together reading, family, and community engagement in a special way.”
SouthState Bank, the Humane Society of Marion County, and Graphicten will sponsor the event.
“It’s heartwarming to see local businesses and organizations come together to support such a positive experience for our families,” says Pittsley.
The city is providing a pizza dinner for all attendees. They encourage families to show up early and enjoy dinner, ahead of the event’s main festivities.
