MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – An Ocala woman took a big leap – actually dozens of them – and landed in the Florida record books.

The Marion County Airport (X35) says one of its skydivers has broken the state record for the number of skydives in a 24-hour period.

The airport says Shyenne Bryant exited the plane 78 times; 27 times more than they originally planned.

The giant feat happened on Wednesday, April 24, at the airport near Dunnellon, according to a post on Facebook.

Central Florida Skydiving (CFS) helped with the planning and execution.

“They staged two airplanes, multiple jump pilots and several riggers to viscously repack and rotate several parachute systems,” said the X35 post. “This plan had Shyenne jumping a ‘six-minute cycle;’ meaning she would board a running airplane, expedite to 3,500 feet, exit the aircraft, parachute to the designated drop zone (landing area), remove her harness rigging, don a freshly packed chute and run to another taxiing airplane every six minutes.”

The airport says the attempt started at sunrise, and by 4 p.m. she had completed her 50th jump to officially claim the women’s state record. According to X35, Bryant didn’t want to stop there. She wanted to go for the overall record, which was set by fellow CFS skydiver David Bosanko. In February 2023, the airport says he logged 77 jumps in a 24-hour period.

“Literally ‘on-the-fly’ and late in the day, Shyenne and her team set a lofty new goal that would tax her with another 27 jumps,” the post said. “Without hesitation the CFS pilots, riggers, ground support and X35 community rallied!”

As sunset approached, Bryant completed her final skydive of the day and tallied 78 exits.
