OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Marion Cultural Alliance is bringing back its annual Block pARTy! this May, showcasing dozens of local artists while raising funds to support the arts in Marion County.

The event will take place at the Brick City Center for the Arts, 23 SW Broadway St., and features more than 75 original works created by local and regional artists. Each piece is a 12-by-12-inch “block” donated to support the organization’s mission.

The celebration begins with a free opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on May 1, where guests can preview the full exhibit, meet artists and take part in an evening highlighting the local arts community. Artist and sponsor recognition is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

A ticketed VIP Drawing Event will follow on May 21 from 5 to 7 p.m., offering attendees a chance to take home original artwork through a randomized selection process. Beginning at 6 p.m., ticket holders’ names will be drawn, and each participant will choose a piece in that order until all artwork is claimed.

Tickets for the drawing event are $50 for one, $90 for two or $135 for three. Each ticket includes entry into the drawing, one original artwork, complimentary drinks for guests 21 and older, hors d’oeuvres and music from DJ Justin Fortune. Remaining artwork will be available for purchase for $75 after the drawing.

Organizers said ticket holders must be present to select their artwork.

“Block pARTy! is a celebration of creativity and community,” said Jaye Baillie, executive director of Marion Cultural Alliance. “It’s a joyful, high-energy event that directly supports our mission – funding artists and arts organizations while bringing people together through the shared experience of art.”

Proceeds from the event will support Marion Cultural Alliance’s year-round programming, exhibitions and grant opportunities for local artists and nonprofit arts organizations.
