SUMTER COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Starting Aug. 24, drivers in The Villages may experience some extra traffic due to lane closures along Buena Vista Boulevard, one of the main through roads in the area.

Southbound lanes on Buena Vista Boulevard will be closed at its intersection with Sumter County Road 466A near Oxford. Closures will continue as far south as St. Charles Place and Turtle Mound Path.

Detour signs will be installed Wednesday, Aug. 23, and traffic detours will begin the following day. Closures will continue through Friday, Aug. 25 while nearby medians are excavated and stormwater pipe liner is installed.

Northbound lanes are also projected to close on Aug. 24 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During the closures, southbound drivers trying to reach Sumter County Road 466A from Buena Vista Boulevard can detour by turning left on Odell Circle, traveling east and turning right on Canal Street.

Sumter County advises drivers to use caution while traveling in the area. Following traffic signs is important to keep yourself, other drivers and construction workers safe.
