SILVER SPRINGS, FL (352today.com) – A 63-year-old Silver Springs man died Monday night when the car he was driving crashed into a veterinary clinic.
The accident happened around 8 p.m. on State Road (SR) 40, just east of Northeast 14th Street Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says the driver was traveling west on SR 40 at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve towards the left. FHP says the vehicle left road and crashed into three cars parked in the parking lot at the Forest Veterinary Clinic.
Troopers say the car then hit a treen and flipped over into the building. They say the car burst into flames and caught the animal clinic on fire.
The driver died at the scene.
352today spoke with an employee of the veterinary office who says no people nor animals were present when the accident happened. The clinic is closed until further notice. They are contacting clients to reschedule appointments and make alternate arrangements for animal care.
The building also housed a pediatrician’s office. Premier Pediatrics is also closed at this time.
