CITRUS COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) has announced that it has canceled its Car Seat Safety Check Event due to Hurricane Helene.

The former tropical storm turned into a hurricane on Wednesday morning, prompting evacuation efforts for various counties in and around North Central Florida.

The event was in recognition of last week’s Child Passenger Safety Week.

CCFR organized the event to ensure parents that their child is in the correct car seat.

The department says they are unsure when the event will be rescheduled but will pass along that information once it becomes available.
