OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth lifted Lake Sumter past the College of Central Florida (CF) Patriots, 6-5, handing CF only its second non-conference loss of the season.

The pitchers dominated early, with CF’s Colson Altman and Lake Sumter’s Ty Floyd each allowing just one hit through three scoreless innings.

CF took a 2-0 lead with solo runs in the fourth and fifth, including a passed ball that scored Tanner Swank and a Logan Chapman RBI single.

Down 5-4 in the ninth, the Patriots used a Dawson Harman single, two walks, and a sacrifice fly from Miles Curley to even the score again. But Lake Sumter’s Chris Cantwell led off the bottom of the ninth with a single and scored on Mason Blackburn’s double to seal the win.

CF drops to 27-11; Lake Sumter moves to 25-14. CF resumes play Thursday, April 3, at Hillsborough Community College.
