CITRUS COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Outdoorsy Citrus County types who live in the Ozello region are doubtless familiar with the little area on the water next to Ozello Community Park known colloquially as “Pirates Cove.”
Well, the county has purchased the property, and they’re asking residents to get in on the act and help rename the newly expanded park that will include it.
The rules
- Submissions will be accepted up until July 24, 2026
- Proposed names must include the words “Pirates Cove” (to keep it from becoming Parky McParkface, we assume)
- Names may only be submitted via the form available at citruscounty.gov/piratescove or through the QR code below

“After the submission period closes, representatives of the Ozello community will review the public suggestions in coordination with county staff,” read an announcement, in part. “The group will then make a recommendation to the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners at the next available board meeting.”
