LECANTO, FL (352today.com) – Local Meals on Wheels volunteer delivery drivers have been feeling the love from Citrus County. Several local businesses and organizations have recently teamed up to donate to the program, which delivers meals to seniors struggling with food insecurity.
Circle of Friends Gift Shop is one such contributor, operated by nonprofit Friends of the Community Centers, Inc. and located in the Citrus County Resource Center. Every year since its opening in 2011, this Lecanto gift shop has donated its proceeds in full to Meals on Wheels.
This year, the volunteer-run gift shop presented local Meals on Wheels program runners with a $5,470 check. So far, it has totaled $55,843 in all-time donations.
Extreme Decalz, a local business located in Crystal River, also contributed this year by donating 20 custom magnetic signs to help identify Meals on Wheels vehicles. These signs will increase safety for volunteer delivery drivers and promote their service around the community.
