CITRUS COUNTY, FL (352today) – The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners has announced an initial Comprehensive Plan workshop to gather citizen feedback that will help shape an updated long-range plan for the county’s future.

The workshop is set for Monday, Dec. 8, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the Citrus County Building Division, 3600 W. Sovereign Path in Lecanto. It will be held in partnership with Inspire Placemaking Collective, a community planning and design firm.

About the Comprehensive Plan Update

Citrus County is looking to the future and inviting residents to share ideas that will help shape goals for the next generation of community members and businesses.

Public input will be incorporated into an updated Comprehensive Plan that outlines a vision for Citrus County through 2050. The plan will guide land use, infrastructure, development, and resource protection.

The current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 1990. The county aims to update it to reflect community priorities on land use, housing, transportation, conservation, coastal management, parks, open space and more. The goal is to preserve Citrus County’s unique character and quality of life.
