CITRUS COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – When school starts Monday in Citrus County, one student won’t be a part of the first day of classes.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) arrested a child on Friday on charges of posting a threat online.

The sheriff’s office says School Resource Deputies (SRDs) were alerted on Thursday to a threat involving Crystal River Middle School.

They say an SRD learned that a video had surfaced online with photos of school staff, and other images of the school itself with what was believed to be a credible threat made by the creator of the video.

CCSO says they worked with the Citrus County School District to identify the student.

The sheriff’s office says this an isolated incident and there is “no threat to the safety or staff or students at Crystal River Middle School or any other school campus in the district.”

CCSO says the student has been turned over to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

The department reminds all families and students that “threatening the safety of any schools is considered a zero-tolerance violation within the school district’s Code of Conduct,” and is against the law.

Deputies say if you or your child has information about the safety and security of any Citrus County schools, you should immediately report the information to any of the following:

The sheriff’s office says both of the apps are downloaded on every student’s school issued iPad.
