BELLEVIEW, FL. (352 Today) — The Belleview City Commission has approved two key Public Works projects aimed at improving roadway safety and enhancing local infrastructure. The actions, taken during the Commission’s Sept. 3, 2025 meeting, reflect the City’s continued investment in safer, more reliable transportation for residents and visitors.

Road Resurfacing Projects

The Commission authorized engineering services with Abshier Engineering, Inc. of Belleview to design resurfacing plans for several city streets. Roads slated for resurfacing include:

  • SE 115th Street/Babb Road (SE 57th Avenue to SE Palm Road)
  • SE 56th Avenue (SE 111th Street to SE 110th Place)
  • SE 55th Avenue (SE 110th Street to SE 107th Place)
  • SE Agnew Road (SE Palm Road to SE Pine Road)

Following the design phase, the City will open a competitive bidding process to complete the resurfacing. The projects are expected to extend roadway lifespans and provide safer driving conditions.

Intersection Safety Improvements

The Commission also approved safety upgrades at the intersection of SE Foss Road and SE Front Road, based on findings from a traffic study conducted by Kimley-Horn. The study recorded nearly 6,900 vehicles traveling through the intersection in a 12-hour span and documented 30 crashes since 2020, including one fatality.

To address these concerns, the City will move forward with installing a four-way stop, along with updated signage and roadway striping.

City Leaders Stress Commitment to Safety

City Administrator Mariah Moody emphasized the broader impact of the initiatives.

Public Works Director Bob Titterington noted that the efforts address both immediate needs and long-term goals.

Continuing Investment in Belleview’s Future

With these approvals, the City of Belleview reaffirms its commitment to balancing growth with safety, ensuring infrastructure improvements serve residents today while supporting the community’s long-term development.
