WILDWOOD, FL (352today.com) – The City of Wildwood has launched a new online tool to provide citizens an easy, intuitive way to learn about larger, long-term projects undertaken by the city.
Nicknamed the CIP Dashboard, the GIS system is accessible from the city’s website and displays an interactive map highlighting infrastructure projects that can be filtered by project type, phase, and/or fiscal year. Project information is provided in a sidebar for each user selection.
“This is something we have wanted to do for our residents as the city grows,” said Public Works Director Jeremy Hockenbury. “The number of projects we undertake each year is rising, and we want the public to be able to find information about each of them in a user-friendly, convenient way.”
Hockenbury said technological advancements in recent years have made tracking tools more readily available and affordable, but has increased the need for technical staff to develop and maintain them. The city’s GIS team has grown to three full-time members whose expertise supports development services, public works, and utilities, as well as other departments as needed.
“This has been a valuable project from an internal perspective,” said GIS Specialist Thomas Bellegarde, who joined the city in late 2024. “I’ve learned so much more about each of these projects as we’ve developed this tool. I’m really looking forward to expanding and improving upon it as we move forward.”
Hockenbury expects more projects to be added after the city commission adopts its Fiscal Year 2027 budget in September.
