OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Three College of Central Florida (CF) Patriots (12-3, 1-2) pitchers made their season debuts in CF’s 8-4 victory over the Tallahassee State College Eagles (5-9, 0-0) on Tuesday afternoon in Ocala. The win secured a sweep of the home-and-away series for the Patriots.
Kohl Kilcrease, making his season debut, started on a strict pitch count, throwing 1.2 innings while allowing two hits, one run, and recording one strikeout. Kilcrease, an Ocala native, graduated from Forest High School in 2024. Another local standout, Hunter Jones (North Marion, 2023), also debuted, pitching 1.2 innings with two hits, one run, and three strikeouts. The third debuting pitcher, Cooper Ryan, tossed 1.1 innings and earned the win.

Cory Geinzer delivered his best performance of the season, throwing 2.1 shutout innings with three strikeouts. Arturo Ormaza closed the game with two no-hit, no-run innings to secure his second save of the season.

The Patriots took the lead for good in the fourth inning when Jacob McKenzie’s sacrifice fly and Victor Martinez’s RBI single put CF ahead.

The team added insurance runs late, highlighted by Logan Chapman’s two-run double off the left-field wall to extend the lead to 8-4. Chapman finished with two hits, three RBIs, and a stolen base. Armando Guirola got CF on the board early with his first home run of the season in the first inning, giving the Patriots a 2-0 lead.
CF begins its next Citrus Conference series on Thursday at 4 p.m. in Melbourne against Eastern Florida State College.
The series continues Saturday in Ocala with a doubleheader scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
