OCALA, FL (352today.com) – An award-winning poet will be coming to the College of Central Florida next month.
On Oct. 18, the college is hosting a book signing, reading, and Q & A session with Brian Turner. The event will start at 12:30 p.m., hosted at Building 8 on CF’s Ocala Campus at 3001 SW College Road.
Turner is the author of many compilations of poetry. His most recent piece is “The Wild Delight of Wild Things.” He also has many other collections that have one won him numerous awards including the 2005 Beatric Hawley Award, New York Times “Editor’s Choice” selection, and Powell’s Best Nonfiction of 2014.
Many of his poems and essays have been published on many notable sites including The New York Times, The Guardian, National Geographic and Harper’s.
The college’s poetry series “The Debra Vazquez Memorial Poetry Series” honors a former CF creative writing and English professor. According to CF, in 2004, Vazquez passed away from domestic violence.
