LAKE PANASOFFKEE, FL (352today.com) – Pickleball is sweeping the nation, and Sumter County is no exception. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 19, Lake Panasoffkee Recreation Park will begin work on converting its tennis courts to pickleball courts.
According to a statement from Sumter County, pickleball is America’s fastest growing sport. Although it initially gained popularity with residents in 55+ communities, pickleball has become quickly popular with all ages because it’s easy to play.
Want to try it out? The new courts will be coming to Lake Panasoffkee Recreation Park at 1589 CR 459 in Lake Panasoffkee. The park’s basketball court will also be resurfaced. The county estimates these projects will take approximately seven to 10 days to complete. The resurfaced courts will have to sit for a week to cure, but they should be open for play within a month, weather permitting.
