MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A man is behind bars after a road rage incident escalated into gunfire along U.S. Highway 441, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reported.
Deputy Desandre responded to the 8900 block of South U.S. Highway 441 following reports of shots fired from a vehicle. The investigation revealed that Jose Torres Jr. was involved in a road rage confrontation and allegedly pointed a firearm out of his vehicle, firing at least five rounds toward another car.
After the shooting, deputies say Torres parked nearby and fled on foot to a mobile home. He was quickly located by law enforcement and admitted to firing the weapon.
Further investigation confirmed that Torres is a convicted felon, making his possession and use of a firearm illegal. He was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail.
The case remains under investigation.
