OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Animal Services (MCAS) is in desperate need of adopters, fosters, and volunteers. As of June 11, MCAS reported 138 animals available for adoption. If you’re not quite ready to make the commitment of adoption, you can also foster with MCAS.

Foster families open their hearts and homes to animals that are too young or too sick to be adopted just yet. MCAS provides supplies, toys, and medical care, and the foster family provides a safe and nurturing environment for the animals until they find forever homes. You can find more information on how to be part about the foster program on the MCAS website.

The shelter pets at MCAS are seeking homes to ride out the Florida heat in, whether that’s through fostering or a new lifelong family. You can be that place for these animals: a home where the air conditioner is cranked, the water bowls are full, and the kiddie pools are ready to splash around in.

MCAS is still running discounted adoptions through June, National Adopt a Cat Month.

Cat adoptions are just $5 and BOGO. This means that for $5 you can be a loving home for two shelter cats, like the bonded pair featured in our pets of the week. Dog adoptions are also discounted at $25.

TAKE ME HOME THIS WEEK – JUNE 12, 2024

Sally may be a bit reserved but give her a few minutes and you just may discover you were meant for each other. This three-year-old lady is worth the time it takes to get to know her. She’s gentle and comforting- just what you’d want in a best friend. Courtesy: MCAS
Creampuff and Buttercup are a bonded brother and sister, who are just a little over two years old. We think there’s nothing sweeter than having TWO purrers sitting in your lap in the evening to help you wind down after a long day. Courtesy: MCAS
Who can embrace all of the wonder of a hound? Their beauty, their determination, their abilities, and best of all, that all too familiar bray. Seven-year-old Pinot is seeking a true hound lover where he is free to be his glorious self. Courtesy: MCAS
