MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, that Crime Stoppers of Marion County is offering rewards of up to $9,500 for information leading to arrests in the unsolved but potentially related 2022 murders of area 16-year-olds Kent Patterson, Jr. and Kenneth Carr, Jr.
Patterson was found dead from a gunshot wound in the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, in a residence on the 4700 block of W. HWY 318 in Citra.
Three months later, nearly to the day, Carr’s body was discovered adjacent to Patterson’s grave in Campground Cemetery in Reddick on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022. Carr had also been shot.
“Major Crimes detectives have conducted extensive investigative efforts and continue to pursue all leads,” read an MCSO announcement. “However, they believe members of the community may still have critical information needed to solve these cases.”
Anyone with information regarding either or both of these crimes is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Marion County and may do so anonymously at 352-368-STOP (7867). Patterson’s case number is 22-45; Carr’s is 22-63. Contacting Crime Stoppers is the only way to be eligible for either or both of the rewards if information given anonymously leads to an arrest.
