CITRUS COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Effective immediately, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), in collaboration with the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners, has issued a curfew in areas affected by the Withlacoochee River flooding.

The curfew, in place due to the rising waters caused by excessive rainfall from Hurricane Milton, is aimed at protecting public safety and preventing further property damage.

The curfew restricts travel in the following areas from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.:

  • North of C-39, from Highway 200 to Highway 41
  • East of Highway 200, from the Marion County line south to Posselt Dr.
  • East of N. Nature Trail

The county says that the curfew will remain active for the duration of the State of Emergency as the Withlacoochee River continues to rise, posing a threat of serious bodily harm or death and further damage to properties.

Residents and travelers are asked by the county to comply with the curfew and avoid affected areas for their safety. CCSO says that they and emergency services are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
