Gainesville, FL (352today.com) – Dancing is fun, but in the professional world it can be very expensive.  Dance Alive National Ballet (DANB) says that a dozen dancers will go through 20 pointe shoes each at $150 a pair.  That’s a total of $36,000!  Think that’s a lot?  Each pair of pointe shoes lasts just around 15 hours.

Be a part of the arts at the Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention in Gainesville on Sept. 22 during Meet the Dancers.  This event will give you an opportunity to meet DANB’s newest dancers, catch a glimpse of the season, and enjoy great food and conversations.  You can also meet some of DANB’s artistic partners, choreographers, musicians, poets, and designers, dance to music by Elio Piedra all while raising money for the ballet.

During this event, you can also meet the 2023-24 Dancing with the Stars team, an event that 93.7 K-Country’s midday host, Lewis Stokes, has been a part of in the past.

The goal is to raise enough money for 100 pair of shoes, but once the feet are provided for, they’ll need to meet another goal: raising money for tutus and bodices.  Each basic tutu costs $650 and each men’s bodice runs around $350.

This is the experience of a lifetime!  If you’ve always wanted to be on stage, this is your chance.  You’ll be able to climb into fabulous costumes like Mother Goose with four opportunities to perform.

One of the works you’ll see at Meet the Dancers is Fashion Day, choreographed by Tales Ribeiro from Kim Tuttle’s Otyken.

Help DANB continue its impact on our community through its unparalleled quality of the arts, business, enrichment, and instilling in children the wonder of the arts.  This season’s productions include Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Love in the Swampand Giselle.
