JACKSONVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Dawson Harman leads the College of Central Florida (CF) baseball team in home runs with nine this season but had gone thirteen straight games without a long ball.

That streak ended on Tuesday when Harman connected on two home runs in CF’s 12-2 win over Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ). Harman broke a 2-2 tie in the second inning with a two-out grand slam. His second home run was a solo shot in the fifth inning, which ended the game via the run rule. Harman finished the day with five RBI.

Miles Curley and Anthony Diaz each hit their first home runs of the season in the game and combined for five RBI. Tanner Swank and Victor Martinez contributed two hits each.

The Pats open another conference series on Thursday when they travel to Winter Haven to take on the Polk State College Eagles, who are currently on top of the Citrus Conference standings with a 9-3 record. The Patriots are two games behind at 7-5. “Every conference series is important, but when you play a team ahead of you in the standings it adds a little weight to the games,” Assistant Coach David Houtz said.

The team will return to Goodlett Field in Ocala to finish the three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday against Polk State, with a 12 p.m. start in game one.
