NORTH CENTRAL FLORIDA (352today.com) – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports at least three deadly traffic-related accidents in the 352 during the long holiday weekend.

DIXIE COUNTY

In Dixie County, troopers say a 13-year-old girl died when she was hit by an SUV driven by a 30-year-old man from Morriston.

The accident happened Saturday, May 25, around 10:35 p.m. on State Road (SR) 349 near Old Town.

Troopers say the SUV was traveling southbound on SR 349 when it hit the child who was standing in the roadway.

The SUV driver was not injured.

LEVY COUNTY

In Levy County, troopers responded to a deadly motorcycle crash on Saturday, May 25, around 2 p.m.

FHP says a 52-year-old woman riding a motorcycle was pulling into the parking lot of the Circle K gas station at the intersection of US Highway 19 and US Highway 27 Alt in Chiefland. They say her motorcycle quickly accelerated and struck a traffic barrier in the parking lot. The woman who is from Old Town was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Troopers say she was not wearing a helmet.

MARION COUNTY

And in Marion County, FHP reports an 82-year-old man from Ocala died on Sunday around 10:20 a.m. in an accident on NW 100th Street and NW 80th Avenue.

Troopers say the man was driving a pickup truck and towing a utility trailer when he veered off the roadway and ran into a tree.
