LADY LAKE, FL. (352 Today) – Authorities are investigating the discovery of a deceased adult male found near an undeveloped construction site in Lady Lake on Thursday, Sept. 11.

According to the Lady Lake Police Department, construction crews working near the intersection of County Road 466 and County Road 100 (Cherry Lake Road) called 911 at approximately 2:12 p.m. after locating the body lying in tall grass.

Officers confirmed the presence of a deceased male in an advanced stage of decomposition. The individual has not been identified, and the Lake County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the cause of death.

The Lady Lake Criminal Investigation Unit is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit and the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

As of Thursday evening, investigators say there is no indication of foul play, and there is no known threat to public safety.

“The Lady Lake Police Department understands the concern this incident may have caused in the community,” the department said in a statement. “We want to reassure residents that there is no known threat to public safety related to this case.”

The area has been secured, and the investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
