OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) arrested an Ocala resident on charges of capital sexual battery after allegedly recording a video of himself raping a child.

Investigation

MCSO detectives received a tip from the National Center for Missing Exploited Children (NCMEC) on August 29, 2024. The tip indicated an account registered on the messaging app Kik had uploaded multiple child sexual abuse material (CSAM) files to the platform.

Kik has notoriously been described by authorities as a “Predator’s Paradise” for its anonymity features, allowing many to share files without worry of identification exposure.

However, MCSO detectives could trace the account back to its user through investigative subpoenas. That’s exactly what they did, pinpointing Brandon Michael Angevine as the account’s owner.

Detectives received a second tip on November 8, 2024, that further incriminated Angevine. The tip alleged Angevine uploaded additional CSAM files in a private direct message to another Kik user.

On December 12, 2024, following a warrant, MCSO arrested the 31-year-old on four counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device to Facilitate a Felony.

The investigation did not stop there.

MCSO then submitted a search warrant for Angevine’s cell phone, where they uncovered evidence that led to additional charges of Possession of Child Pornography and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device to Facilitate a Felony.

MCSO received yet another tip from NCMEC, indicating that Angevine sent a file of himself sexually battering a young child in a private message on Kik.

Through contact with detectives, Angevine admitted to producing the video. In response, he wrote an apology letter stating that he raped the child.

Aftermath

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, MCSO arrested Angevine again while still in custody for his previous charges.

He remains incarcerated at the Marion County Jail, held without bond.

Deputies with MCSO say that they believe Angevine’s criminal online activity could yield additional victims of his crimes.

Anyone with information on potential victims of Brandon Michael Angevine is asked to contact Detective Nicholas Sutliff at (352) 368-3546.
