OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A man is behind bars after allegedly attacking a stranger outside a home on SW 157th Lane, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
MCSO says that Deputy Corne responded to the scene following reports of a disturbance. The victim told deputies he arrived at his home to find a man he didn’t recognize, later identified as Edwin Watts, standing in front of the house. MCSO says that Watts made an obscene gesture, approached the victim’s vehicle, and struck him through the open window.
As the victim attempted to leave, Watts allegedly hurled a piece of concrete at the vehicle, causing significant damage. When the victim got out of the car, MCSO says that Watts escalated the situation by throwing both a metal pipe and a machete at him, missing with both.
Watts was later found at his residence with injuries to his legs and was described by deputies as highly intoxicated. After receiving medical care, he was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail.
