HAWTHORNE, FL (352today.com) – A temporary closure and detour are scheduled for U.S. 301 in Hawthorne on May 5 as crews complete railroad crossing repairs, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The closure will take place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CSX railroad crossing located between SE 74th Ln. Officials said the work is part of a rehabilitation project and is subject to weather and other unforeseen conditions.

During the closure, northbound drivers on U.S. 301 will be detoured to U.S. 441, then to State Road 331 north to State Road 24 before reconnecting with U.S. 301.

Southbound drivers will follow a reverse route, using State Road. 24 to State Road 331 south to U.S. 441 to return to U.S. 301.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and use caution when traveling through the area.
