Other eligible counties include Columbia, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee and Taylor counties.
To qualify for D-SNAP benefits, applicants must have been living or working in one of the 11 disaster-declared counties above during Hurricane Idalia. Applicants must have also suffered a storm-related loss, including home/business property damage, reduction/loss of income, loss of food or other disaster-related expenses. People who already receive regular SNAP benefits are not eligible.
To be considered to receive EBT cards through D-SNAP, pre-registration is required. It closes this Thursday, Sept. 28 at 11 p.m. You can pre-register online here.
After pre-registration, applicants will need to complete an interview. This can be done by phone on Wednesday, Sept. 27 or Thursday, Sept. 28. You can call the D-SNAP call center at 888-348-0408 or 855-278-7138 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
During the interview, applicants will have to report their household net income and available assets from Aug. 28 to Sept. 26. Applicants must meet certain financial eligibility requirements.
For applicants who cannot participate in a phone interview, the Florida Department of Children and Families will also host in-person D-SNAP events. On-site locations will be announced soon.
