OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A story of survival headlines this week’s Project Pawsitivity.
The caregivers at Marion County Animal Services (MCAS) say one of this week’s adoptable pets is a survivor from a recent animal cruelty case where more than 50 dogs were rescued from filthy conditions.

The animals seized have stressed the MCAS resources and the shelter is in critical need of adopters.
MCAS says Sugar Ray (like the boxer Sugar Ray Leonard) is a fighter to have survived the prolonged lack of care. They say he has responded well under the care of MCAS veterinarians and is ready for your love and attention.
He and all the others available for adoption can be taken home for FREE. MCA has waived all fees this month.
This week’s featured cat, Sassy, is part of MCAS’ Working Whiskers program.
The program helps less social and feral cats who aren’t into cuddling. MCAS says these cats are perfect for businesses, farms and homes for rodent control.
Cats designated in the Working Whiskers program can be adopted at no charge. While these cats prefer independence, you are required to provide food, clean water, and shelter from the elements. Learn more about the program here.
