MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Public Schools (MCPS) Superintendent Dr. Diane Gullett is once again in the national spotlight as she competes in the Magnet Schools of America (MSA) National Superintendent of the Year competition.
Dr. Gullett is among six superintendents vying for the prestigious title, which recognizes leaders who excel in supporting and advancing magnet school programs. This year’s competition features a bracket-style contest, with MCPS facing off against Seminole County Public Schools in the first round.
Community members and supporters can cast their votes online at this link, with voting open until Thursday, Feb. 13. As the competition progresses, MCPS will face other districts from Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, and South Carolina.
Dr. Gullett’s previous success in the competition saw her finish in the top four last year, earning MCPS a $500 award that directly benefited local magnet programs.
The MSA competition highlights the importance of magnet schools and their core values, which include diversity, innovative curriculum and professional development, academic excellence, leadership in high-quality instructional systems, and strong family and community partnerships.
The winning district will receive $2,500 to support its magnet programs.
