OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A driver was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash along North U.S. 441, according to the Ocala Police Department (OPD).
Just before 2:45 a.m., OPD responded to the 1700 block of N U.S. 441, where a Mazda minivan traveling northbound had reportedly been speeding and driving recklessly. Investigators say the vehicle left the roadway, struck a concrete culvert, went airborne, overturned, and ultimately collided with a palm tree and a concrete wall.
The driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
OPD Traffic Homicide Investigator Joedicke is leading the investigation.
“Our hearts go out to the driver’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” OPD stated in a Facebook post.
