ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A driver who left his vehicle along northbound U.S. HWY 301 in Alachua County was struck and killed by two tractor trailers over the weekend.
According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol, a 37-year-old St. Petersburg man exited his vehicle after a single-vehicle crash along northbound HWY 301 near SE 111th Avenue just before midnight on Friday, September 11, 2026.
The driver left his vehicle on the grass shoulder of outside grass shoulder of northbound HWY 301 and, for reasons not indicated in the FHP report, entered the roadway on foot.
The man was struck by two consecutive semis headed northbound on HWY 301 while he was in the roadway.
The driver turned pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning. Neither semi driver was injured in the incident.
This incident remains under investigation.
