CITRUS COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 26-year-old Dunnellon man is behind bars in Citrus County charged in the DUI death of a woman riding in his vehicle.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says the accident happened on West Fort Island Trail, west of Seabreeze Point on Tuesday just before 5 p.m.
Troopers say Dexter Nicholas Landstrom was speeding and failed to negotiate a curve. They say the vehicle ran off the road, hitting several trees and flipping over.
FHP says a 23-year-old woman from Citrus Springs was seriously injured. Emergency crews transported her to a hospital where she later died.
Troopers say Landstrom was not injured nor was a 23-year-old male passenger from Citrus Springs.
FHP says Landstrom provided a breath sample and had a blood alcohol content of .151. The legal limit in Florida is .08. Troopers arrested Landstrom on charges reckless driving and DUI manslaughter.
He’s being held in the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto on a $25,000 bond.
