Florida Highway Patrol says an 81-year-old Summerfield woman died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing US Highway 301 early Sunday morning.
SUMMERFIELD, FL (352today.com) – An 81-year-old woman from Summerfield was struck and killed by a car early Sunday morning while crossing U.S. Highway 301, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Troopers say the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. just north of SE 169th Street. A Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 24-year-old woman from Ocala, was heading north in the left lane when it struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the highway from west to east.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
FHP is continuing to investigate the incident.
