SILVER SPRINGS SHORES, FL (352today.com) – It’s an opportunity to keep both mind and body fit.

A new program is being introduced for homeschoolers at the Silver Springs Shores Community Center in Marion County. The Homeschool PE and STEAM programs for children ages 9 to 15, will start Sept. 3, and will be held every Tuesday from 9: 30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The STEAM program allows students to broaden their horizons, gaining practical experience in a number of disciplines including science, technology, engineering, arts and math, through hands on projects. Students can expand their imagination and develop their problem-solving skills from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The PE program, which will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., features a variety of ways homeschoolers can stay fit, have fun, build friendships and learn about teamwork.

The activities the homeschoolers will have an opportunity to participate in include cooperative games, archery, fishing, water sports, field games, team sports and fitness challenges.

However, the fun doesn’t end there because between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. the homeschoolers can wind down with a swim in the center’s heated pool, weather permitting.

The monthly fee for the programs is $15 for four classes for the first child and $10 each child for two or more.

You can register your child in person at the Silver Springs Shores Community Center, 590 Silver Rd., or call 352-438-2810.
