MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) arrested a 35-year-old man on charges including Human Trafficking of a Minor.
Initial Dispatch
On Jan. 30, deputies responded to a home in Ocklawaha. They had received a call from a 14-year-old victim, who told officials that a Hispanic male had sexually abused her.
The victim told officials she was walking near her neighborhood when Danhlelo Sanchez-Jose of Eustis approached her in his red 2015 GMC Canyon. The victim stated to MCSO that Sanchez-Jose approached her as she walked in her neighborhood, exposed himself, and then coerced her into his vehicle. She reported being molested and then given $40 with instructions to return the following day.
Surveillance and Undercover Arrest
MCSO detectives initiated surveillance of the area and spotted Sanchez-Jose’s vehicle multiple times between January 30 and February 6. An undercover operation was then set up. On a subsequent visit to the area, Sanchez-Jose offered a ride to an undercover agent posing as a similar-looking woman to the victim. He was immediately arrested.
During an interview with detectives, Sanchez-Jose provided inconsistent and “unrealistic explanations” that contradicted the victim’s account. He eventually refused to continue the interview. He is now held without bond at the Marion County Jail, facing charges of Human Trafficking of a Minor, Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, and Lewd or Lascivious Exhibition.
MCSO believes Sanchez-Jose may have additional victims. If you have any information, please call Detective Ryan Paxton at (352) 368-3545.
