OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Get ready for a day of culture and creativity at the CF Appleton Museum of Art.
On October 5, the museum will host its monthly Free First Saturday, inviting art lovers and families alike to explore various activities, exhibitions, and live performances—all at no cost.
Visitors can explore the museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This month, you can enjoy “Striking Poses: Portrait Photography from the Permanent Collection” and “Common Thread: Photographs by Theresa Segal.” It’s also the final opportunity to see “En Pointe: Expressions of Dance in Art,” featuring more than 60 pieces that explore dance as an art form.
At 11 a.m., Dr. Jose Gaudier, a neurologist who loves art, will give a talk about the history of art in Spain, starting from the Prehistoric Period. This presentation will deepen your knowledge of Spanish art, and reservations aren’t necessary.

Local dancers from the Devotions Dance Company will perform short pieces in the auditorium between 1 and 3 p.m. These free shows will celebrate the art of dance. No need to book in advance.
Food trucks from Donut Express and Poppy’s Dogs will also be on site.
Free First Saturdays at the Appleton Museum are made possible through the support of organizations like the Marion Cultural Alliance, National Endowment for the Arts, and CAMPUS USA Credit Union.
