OCALA, FL (352today.com) – It’s an opportunity to celebrate the “the most exciting two minutes in sports,” the Kentucky Derby.

And the World Equestrian Center (WEC) in Ocala is offering a unique experience on Saturday.

There are two ways to enjoy Saturday’s Run for the Roses at WEC. In both cases, you’re encouraged to dress for the occasion and cheer on the Derby hopefuls who have ties to the Ocala area.

The community is invited to come to WEC and watch the race on the big jumbotrons at the Grand Arena for FREE. You can visit the restaurants and stroll through the shops.

WEC is also hosting an exclusive Kentucky Derby Hat Party on the Terrace of the Equestrian Hotel from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The inaugural hat party was held back in 2021 and was the first weekend the restaurants at the Equestrian Hotel opened to the public.

“For the hotel, this was kind of our first big weekend,” said Justin Garner, WEC Senior Director of Operations & Brand Strategy. “It’s always our anniversary weekend going into Derby weekend.”

The price per ticket is $235. That includes food featuring southern-inspired favorites prepared by the staff at Stirrups Restaurant, samples of mint juleps and champagne a derby hat or a bottle of bourbon.

“The price includes a bottle of bourbon or a hat, depending on what you want most and prioritize,” said Garner. “That’s an engraved bottle celebrating this year’s Derby, and Woodford Reserve is a great partner of ours. They release a special edition bottle every year. With this year being the 150th anniversary, it’s a pretty cool bottle.”

The party will also feature a Best Dressed contest.
