OCALA, FL (ThingsToDoOcala.com) – Families immersed themselves in history over the weekend at the annual Ocklawaha River Raid at the Florida Horse Park in Ocala.
The re-enactment is a tribute to the sole Civil War battle to unfold in Marion County. Visitors step back in time with authentic Union and Confederate military camps, along with a glimpse into civilian life.
History enthusiasts can view flags of Florida on display and witness a re-creation of the 1860s era postal service.
The event’s centerpiece is the battle re-enactment complete with gunfire which features infantry, artillery, and cavalry troops which is organized in part by the 7th Florida Infantry Regiment, Company F re-enactors.
For those seeking unique souvenirs, the sutlers’ shops offered an assortment of historical artifacts.
