OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A donation from the Women of the World (WOW) club is helping transform the future of dementia education in Marion County. On April 21, Hospice of Marion County Foundation (HMCF) announced an $8,500 gift from the WOW club, raised during their 22nd Annual Fashion Show at the Circle Square Cultural Center.
Thanks to HMCF’s matching campaign, the donation doubled to $17,000 and will support the “Building Hope” renovation project, creating the new Center for the Nancy Renyhart Dementia Education Program on the Hellen “Mimi” Walker Hospice Campus.
“We have retired nurses and caregivers on our board, in our membership, and throughout our community,” said Michele Croud, WOW President, joined by First Vice President Dolores Burke. “We understand firsthand the critical importance of dementia education and caregiving support. Contributing to this renovation project was deeply meaningful to us.”

The center aims to meet a growing need for dementia education across the region, offering training for caregivers, healthcare providers, first responders, and community members.
Kari Hamende, Interim Executive Director of HMCF, shared her gratitude, saying, “We are incredibly grateful for the long-standing partnership we’ve shared with Women of the World. Their ongoing support continues to enhance the mission and programs of Hospice of Marion County in powerful ways.”
Since its founding in 2020, the Nancy Renyhart Endowment has helped nearly 12,000 people receive dementia care training through innovative programs like Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care® and the Virtual Dementia Tour®.
