LEVY COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says a 41-year-old woman died in a scooter accident.

The incident happened during the late-night hours of Monday, Aug. 5, one mile north of Northwest 20th Avenue on U.S. Highway 19 (U.S. 19).

FHP says a 28-year-old woman from Branford was driving a sedan northbound on U.S. 19 in the right lane.

Troopers say at the same time a 41-year-old man from Trenton and his passenger, a woman from Gainesville, were on a scooter in the same lane and headed the same direction as the car.

They say the driver of the car hit rear-ended the scooter, killing the passenger.

Emergency crews transported the scooter driver to Shands UF for treatment. The driver of the car was not injured.
